INDIANAPOLIS (July 29, 2016) - Midwest Fertilizer Company LLC today announced Les Wright has been appointed interim president and CEO. Wright replaces Mike Chorlton who announced his retirement from the company. Chorlton will remain involved with the fertilizer manufacturing company as a consultant.

"As I approach my 66th birthday, this is a natural time for me to move forward with the next chapter of my life where I will enjoy retirement with my wife, our daughters and their families including our four wonderful grandchildren," said Chorlton. "I have complete confidence in Les Wright's leadership and we have an extremely talented team in place. I truly feel our facility is the right plant in the right location for a North American greenfield nitrogen complex."

Since 2013, Chorlton and Wright have worked in Indiana on the development of the $3 billion fertilizer manufacturing project located in Posey County. The state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest fertilizer manufacturing investments in the U.S. in more than two decades.

In addition to serving as interim president and CEO, Wright will remain chief financial officer for Midwest Fertilizer Company. During his career, Wright has held several senior financial leadership positions within Cargill, Incorporated including serving as worldwide fertilizer controller. Wright has also been the chief financial officer for Saskerco Products, Inc. and Lilydale Inc. Wright's senior leadership experience includes startup and acquisition/divesture projects, internal and external financial reporting, risk management, and information technology.
